Where Dixon Families Grow Together
The Karlshoej family has owned farmland in Northern California for two generations, with more than two decades in Dixon. After careful consideration of their land’s agricultural productivity and Dixon’s housing needs, they chose to partner with Lewis Group on Harvest at Dixon.
This is a Dixon-area family partnering with a developer with decades of nationally acclaimed land planning and development expertise.
Together, we’re creating a community that respects our agricultural heritage while addressing the housing needs Dixon families face today—from teachers who can’t afford to live where they work, to seniors who want to downsize but stay connected to their community.
Lewis Group of Companies
Lewis is a family-led community development group of companies committed to elevating the standards of living and quality of life for every customer, employee, partner, and community they serve. Founded in 1955, Lewis has developed master-planned communities, retail centers, apartment communities, and industrial parks throughout California and Nevada. Lewis is honored to be an active participant in the Dixon community and contributing to the future of housing and master planning throughout the region.
Jens and Poul Karlshoej
The Karlshoejs are the second-generation to own farming land in Dixon and have deep roots in Northern California. The Karlshoejs now own 840 acres of farmland in Dixon and their leased farming operations produce tomatoes, corn, sunflowers, and alfafa ground cover.
Why This Partnership Matters
Local Decision Making
The Karlshoej and Lewis families have been active in the Solano County and Sacramento region for decades. In partnership with the City and community leaders, they own the Harvest site, actively participate in Dixon’s civic life, and are investing in the community’s long-term future.
Agricultural Heritage Preserved
The land is currently farmed in collaboration with local farming families. To honor Dixon’s agricultural heritage, views of active farmland are intentionally preserved and woven into the Harvest community design. The plan also includes community gardens and gathering spaces envisioned as venues for seasonal agricultural celebrations and neighborhood connection.
Proven Community Builder
With a 70-year track record of planning and building high-quality communities, Lewis brings a legacy of care and craftsmanship to Dixon. In Solano County alone, Lewis has been developing master-planned communities for more than 50 years, giving Dixon residents a clear view of the lasting, positive impact of their approach to community building.
Long-Term Commitment
Unlike typical build-and-leave developers, Lewis and the Karlshoej family are long-term stewards of the land and active members of the Dixon community. Lewis also owns and operates multifamily communities throughout Solano and Sacramento counties, contributing to local job creation and long-term economic stability.
Community-Driven Planning
Over 50 meetings with Dixon community leaders and organizations since July 2024, which provided input directly shaping project design.
